The first pair I ordered was way too big (size 41). I am a 9.5 USA. The sandal was too big and the backstrap did not fit around the back of my foot and was slipping. I ordered a size smaller (40). The sandal fit fine, however, the backstrap was still too large--and when I walked, the backstrap would slip around and it was definitely not a snug fit. Not good. I never had this problem before with a strapped sandal--it's like Birkenstock should look into this. I really thought by ordering a size smaller the strap problem would disappear, but that was not the case. I was attracted to this style because of the strap connecting the front and back straps and in person it's even better than in the picture. That strap really changes the look of the sandal so it doesn't look so wide as Birks normally do. These come in the oiled leather finish, which is my favorite.
